My eSIM says “Activating” or will not fully activate. Is something wrong?+
In most cases, this happens because you are not yet in the destination country covered by the eSIM. Your eSIM may install on your phone before you travel, but it often will not fully activate until you land and connect to a supported local mobile network.
Should I install my eSIM before I travel?+
Yes, we usually recommend installing your eSIM before travelling when you have a stable Wi-Fi connection. Once installed, you can leave it turned off until you arrive. When you land, turn the eSIM on, set it as your mobile data line and make sure data roaming is enabled.
Do I need to remove my normal SIM card?+
No. One of the main benefits of an eSIM is that you can keep your normal SIM card in your phone. You can use your travel eSIM for mobile data while keeping your usual number available for calls, texts or WhatsApp.
What can I use my travel eSIM for?+

Do I need an unlocked phone?+
Yes. Your phone needs to be both eSIM compatible and carrier / mobile network unlocked. If your phone is locked to one mobile network, it may not accept an eSIMs from another provider.
Why do I need to turn on data roaming?+
Travel eSIMs connect to local mobile networks in the country you are visiting. Because of this, data roaming must be enabled. This does not mean you are using your home network’s roaming charges.
Can I use WhatsApp with my eSIM?+
Yes. WhatsApp uses mobile data, so you can continue using voice / video calls and messages through your eSIM using your home number.
